Unsere japanische Partnerorganisation NICE (Never ending international volunteer exchange) leistet neuen Workcamporganisationen in anderen asiatischen Ländern aktive Aufbauhilfe. So auch bei diesen Projekten, die gemeinsam von NICE und der neuen malaiischen Organisation MOVE organisiert und betreut werden. In diesem Jahr wird NICE noch für die Vermittlung von Freiwilligen und viele logistische Aspekte verantwortlich sein. Die Hilfe von NICE ist aber immer eine Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe, d.h. dass MOVE in spätestens zwei Jahren seine Workcamps komplett selbst organisieren soll. Schon in diesem Jahr ist MOVE für die Betreuung vor Ort zuständig.

Malaysia ist ein sehr interessantes Land, in dem, bedingt durch die Geschichte als Handelspunkt, viele verschiedene Kulturen und Religionsgemeinschaften nebeneinander leben, u.a. die moslemische Mehrheit und die recht starke chinesisch-stämmige Minderheit. Malaysia ist ein tropisches Land. Um Versicherungsschutz musst du dich bei diesen Projekten selber kümmern. Vor Ort wird eine zusätzliche Gebühr zur Finanzierung des Projekts fällig.

Organized since 2005 together with Chabu Long House and Malaysian Organization of Voluntary Exchange (MOVE). The area and the indigenous people, Iban, have very rich nature and culture by collective life in long houses, but young people go to the cities by lack of jobs and also by that their richness is not valued in this modern civilization.  The workcamps have been welcomed by the local people very much and we aim to activate this depopulated mountain communities with them! Work: We will mainly construct a communal fish pond the long house since people mainly buy it in the market.  We may also sometimes join the work of our host families such as cultivation of pepper fields and rubber tapping and promote acrylic sponges with which you don’t need soap for washing dishes.  Accommodation: Home stay in the long houses (1-2 vols. in each family) with bathing in the river. Location: A small village in the jungle of Sarawak Island. 45 minutes by 4W car from the nearest town and we can enjoy to exchange with local cheerful people of minority race. Terminal: Kuching (6 hours by boat and car) Leisure Activities: Exchange parties with Iban dance and drink, jungle trekking and barbeque, etc. Special Remarks: Volunteers need to arrive at Kuching by the night on 14 Feb. and leave there in the morning on 01 Mar. or later.  Quite hard (very limited choices) for vegetarian! Participation Fee: 400 RM (about 100 US$) to be paid on your arrivals.

Organized together with Malaysian Organization of Voluntary Exchange (MOVE) and Klang Special School (KKS) since 2005.  MOVE is a NGO to develop international workcamps in Malaysia and NICE plans to co-organize projects to enable MOVE to do it by themselves after 2-3 years.  KSS was founded in 1964 and has about 200 students of mentally challenged children. We aim to stimulate on their life and improve their communication skills as well as supporting the teachers. Kids are so cute! Work: We'll assist the teachers in the school by helping their lessons as well as organizing to songs, games, drawing, swimming, handicraft, excise, etc. We may also help maintenance of the school such as improving the vegetable garden made by the past workcamps. Accommodation: Office building near the school (one big room on the second floor). Location: Port town, not far from Kuala Lumpur where there are many Indian population.Terminal: Kuala Lumpur (1 hour by train) Leisure Activities: Exchange parties, excursion, etc. Special Remarks:Those who like children and have high motivation to work with them. You also need to respect local cultures and ways. Experience of workcamps and similar type of voluntary service are welcome! Participation Fee: 400 RM (about 100 US$) to be paid on your arrivals.
