1. Program "Meetings in the Countryside"
This programme is based on projects aimed at helping small communities and
developing long-term co-operation between and within these communities.
The programme might involve volunteers into the daily life of the
community or local NGO and provide an experience of country lifestyles
whilst working for the benefit of the local community. Thanks to the kind
of work, thanks to art workshops (traditional local craft), seminars,
trips, excursions or games volunteers might get a better understanding of
the local problems (social problems, eco-environmental and sustainability
questions, self-administration problems) connected with sustainable life
style in the countryside and discuss them with local people. The
inhabitants of the village have the opportunity to join camp seminars.
This should improve their inner relationship towards the village and the
care for it. The presence of the volunteers might increase self-confidence
of inhabitants, involves them into solution of problems and brings them
new ideas. The long term aim is to maintain the continuity of care and
interest in places where the camps were successful and where the
inhabitants joined the camp activities. We are looking for highly
motivated volunteers who are able to work manually in outdoor conditions.
2. Program
"Hands and History"
The programme is aimed at promotion of the co-operation in the field of
the protection, care and documentation of historically significant
locations. Included in this are public places and minor architectural
monuments in the countryside such as crosses, sculptures, monuments. We
also maintain pilgrim roads, and the crosses and monuments found thereon.
We focus on the revitalisation and commemoration of our heritage and
bringing back awareness of traditions to our modern lives. Volunteers
might meet daily problems connected with the protection and maintenance of
these sites. This programme as well as the programme “Meeting in the
landscape” stresses a modest life style, respecting cultural heritage,
caring for the environment and the principals involved in a sustainable
lifestyle.

3. Program
"One to Another"
This program is designed to help in the humanitarian and social field. The
aim is to provide voluntary work in the communities and centres that work
with and take care of the handicapped, both adults and children, children
with special needs and learning difficulties, senior citizens in difficult
life situations, drug addicts and former drug users. These centres are
there to help with the re-integration of those people into normal society.
Primarily the program provides manual work such as the building of new
centres, however, we consider it very important to try to integrate the
volunteers into the everyday life of the centre or community. With this in
mind we expect and accept extremely motivated people, preferably with
previous experience of work in these fields to take part in this program.
The program also makes space and time for the exchange of experience in
the international context.
4. Program
"Bridges to the Nature"
The project is based on a co-operation with authorities of Landscape
Protected Areas, centres of ecological education, ecological farms, which
needs to be supported in the starting point of their existence. The
project is supposed to co-operate with town authorities in the area of
public place management. The programme concept is the man in the
countryside, his position in the midst of nature linked to the ideas of
sustainable growth, organic farming, environment-friendly lifestyle etc.
We aim to educate young people in ecology, landscape protection and a
lifestyle that is sustainable for nature. The work is placed outdoors – in
the midst of protected areas, in forest etc. Expected kinds of works are
renovation of the tourist paths, fitting desks of tourist information,
planting trees, work with farm animals, scything protected meadows, care
of public spaces and gardening. The programme includes seminars and
discussion on ecological education, alternative energy sources, landscape
protection and ideas and principals for a sustainable way of life in the
Czech Republic.

Mission
of INEX-SDA workcamps
We expect your good will to come and help where help is needed.
We
don’t expect professionalism but we count with your interest as for
program and individual project.
We
can not offer you luxurious accommodation and board but basic conditions
corresponding to the focus of the project. We expect your modesty and
tolerance in this point.
We
make an effort to get in touch with local community and we suppose you
being the main strength in it.
We
don’t expect you to spend your leisure time lying, sleeping, sitting in
pub every evening or visiting mass-tourist attractions, but we invite you
to spend leisure time actively and submitted to the aims of the project,
too. We offer you to take part in games, visiting local people, seminars,
lectures, debates with interesting people, walks etc.
Who we
are?
INEX -
Association for Voluntary Service (INEX-SDA) was established in 1991 on
the basis of the activities of the Centre for International Youth Exchange
and Tourism. INEX –SDA has been designed especially for young people with
the aim to promote international peace, understanding and tolerance. INEX
– SDA is a non-governmental, non-profit-making organisation. Our
activities consist of implementing of the projects based on voluntary work
and on the activities in social, cultural and environmental fields. These
projects were established according to the topics of our current and
developing activities. One of the important parts is accepting and sending
volunteers within international exchanges. The form of voluntary work
includes mostly short-term camps of voluntary work, known as workcamps
abroad. We are especially trying to increase the co-operation with places
– villages, towns, local authorities and inhabitants, where our camps were
successful.
We organised 41 workcamps last year. Moreover, we received about 450
volunteers from abroad and we sent about 700 of our volunteers abroad.
Under the program “Youth – European Voluntary Service” we host long-term
volunteers on two projects. INEX – SDA is approved by the Czech National
Agency as hosting as well as sending organisation.
What are
our objectives?
INEX-SDA wants to help through its activities especially in these above
mentioned areas. The most important is organising of both short and long
term international publicly beneficial projects of voluntary work that do
not only help at particular places but also promote the idea of voluntary
service, especially among young people. Part of these activities is also
enabling young people to participate in similar projects abroad and to
learn about other cultures and opinions. We especially want to enable
young people to learn about other countries and cultures in a different
and deeper way than superficial one as a tourist. We would like to let
them see social and economic differences and through understanding
diversity of the current world to promote reciprocal tolerance. One of the
important objectives is the above mentioned voluntary help in places where
it is necessary: in small villages, in socially oriented communities, in
the countryside, for the support of development of country micro-regions.
Through our projects, camps of voluntary work, seminars and meeting people
we want to actively contribute to revitalising particular places and
support activities of citizens and non-governmental organisations in
participating at local affairs. We join people who are united by the idea
of voluntary contributing to looking after our environment, our community,
promoting the idea of voluntary service, and the personal active part in
publicly beneficial activities.
Basic
general information for workcamp participants

responsible for organising the work and for material equipment in the camp

project. All camp programmes are created on a democratic basis (by the
group itself to decide on the balance of work, leisure and study
activities). Camp language: English.
Letter of motivation: Please send us the letter of motivation for the
