Die Workcamps in der Türkei werden von unseren Partnerorganisationen Genctur und GSM, zwei nicht-staatlichen Jugendverbänden, durchgeführt. Wir bekommen nicht zuletzt aufgrund der hervorragenden Vorbereitung der Projekte und der außergewöhnlichen Gastfreundschaft der lokalen Bevölkerung sehr positives Feedback von unseren Freiwilligen.

Wir empfehlen dir dringend den Abschluss einer eigenen Kranken- und Unfallversicherung. Vor Ort bist du sonst nicht versichert. Bei Genctur hast du die Möglichkeit, vor Campbeginn an einem dreitätigen Vorbereitungstreffen in Istanbul teilzunehmen, wo auch der Treffpunkt für alle Workcamps von Genctur ist.  Bei GSM treffen sich die Teilnehmer direkt am Camport. Die Kosten der Reise zum Camport tragen die Freiwilligen immer selbst. Wir können dir einen Fahrtkostenzuschuss von 100€ auszahlen, wenn alle Kriterien erfüllt sind.

Vom 1.-30. August 2011 findet in der Türkei der Ramadan statt. Das Geschäftsleben kann eingeschränkt sein und von den Workcamp-Teilnehmenden wird respektvolles Verhalten erwartet.  

Kulturaustausch mit Studenten der Osmaniye University

Osmaniye University is willing to host a group of volunteers in order to have a cultural exchange program with and for their students. Although the main task of the volunteers will be practicing English with the university students, they are also expected to run some workshops or other activities for the students. The students are 19-25 age group and the volunteers can be between 20-40 years old. Volunteers will have a chance to have very close contact with the students and learn a lot about them and Turkey.
WORK: Using English as a tool to encourage the students to practice, organizing activities for the university students, being friend with them and having cultural exchange.
ACCOMMODATION: In the guest house of the university. Food will be supplied in the university.
LOCATION: Osmaniye is a city in the South of Turkey and in the middle of of three important cities.
REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers need not to be a native speaker but a good level of English is necessary. A motivation letter must be sent together with the application form.

Unterstützung eines Kunstfestivals

“GAP-GENÇ Festival” (www.gapgenc.org) aims to bring different youth NGOs together, in order to introduce themselves to each other and to the youth of the provinces in the south-east of Turkey. It is organized in different cities every year (http://vimeo.com/32549812): This year Siirt City Youth & Culture House which is a local NGO is the host. The festival itself will be a 3 days event between 04-07 May. Activities like concerts, exhibitions, panels, NGO fair, fine art ateliers, etc. will be a part of the festival. Young volunteers of 18-30 ages will be preferred for this project.
WORK: Helping to the organization committee for realizing the festival i.e. setting up the activity areas and the stands in the fair area, setting up the tent city for accommodation, assist the ateliers, clean up the environment after the activities. Volunteers are also expected to organize an international group activity like a drama or any kind of performance and to help to foldu p the tents after the festival and maybe the renovation of the Youth & Culture House.
ACCOMMODATION: The first week in tents and after the festival in a dormitory, sleeping bags and mats are necessary for the first week. Food will be served at the site.
LOCATION: Siirt is a province in south-east of Turkey. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp. 29.04 Sunday. The group will depart on 30.04 Monday and travel all over Turkey from west to the south-east by coach (23 hours). Thus 1 overnight stay in Istanbul is compulsory with an extra cost of 20 Euro on bed & breakfast basis. The meals in Istanbul and on the way to the camp site are volunteers’ responsibility until the group reaches to the camp site. The rest of the camp days will be spent in Siirt province.

Auf ins mathematische Dorf!

Have you ever heard of Mathematic Village? Probably not, because it is a 5 years old village. If you like nature and mathematic this is a tailor made project for you. If you hate mathematic you can still join the camp, as the project is not related with math but is about helping to build a non-formal education center in nature. Mathematic Village is created by a university professor aiming to endear math to young people. Around 80 math lovers gather in this center during summer holidays, to learn, exercise and study math. International and national math professors are voluntarily sharing their knowledge with young students during the mathematical activities.
WORK: The center still needs some constructional work and landscaping and volunteers are needed for this task in order to prepare the complex for the coming season.
ACCOMMODATION: In the complex of Math Village. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. Food is provided by the staff of the Math Village. Volunteers help the staff for preparing, cooking the meals and setting up the tables.
LOCATION: Sirince is a small village in the west of Turkey. Please be aware that the center is a bit isolated. No night life, TV or disco is available at the center. But the next village Sirince, which is only 15 minutes by foot, is very attractive and famous for its homemade wines and traditional architecture. The nearest town Selcuk, which is the home of world famous Ephessus open-air museum. The nearest city Izmir, is one hour away by coach.
TERMINAL: Istanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp. The group will travel together to the camp site by an overnight coach on the same evening. Pre Camp Days: GENCTUR also offers an optional 2 days sight seeing tour in Istanbul before this camp. Volunteers may participate in this tour with an extra cost of 45 Euro for 3 nights bed & breakfast accommodation. The program is organized according to the wishes of the participants. Zirkus- und Strassenkunstfestival

Mardin Youth and Culture House is going to organize a “Circus & Street Arts Festival” and they need volunteers to prepare, run and perform in it. Anybody is welcome but people with skills on circus or street arts like juggling, clowning, stick walking, tightrope dancing-walking, fire blowing, capoera , mime, graffiti, acrobacy, illusion, etc., are especially welcome. You can watch the video at www.msafest.org to see what is going to happen.
WORK: Helping to the organisation commitee to prepare the festival, setting up stands, tents, hanging posters, inviting people by different activities. But if you have a talent as mentioned above you can perform and teach it to the locals.
ACCOMMODATION: In a dormitory sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. Food will be supplied at the site.
LOCATION: Mardin is a city in Southeast of Turkey. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp. 30.05 Wednesday. The group will depart on 31.05 Thursday and travel all over Turkey from west to the south-east by coach (21 hours). Thus 1 overnight stay in Istanbul is compulsory with an extra cost of 20 Euro on bed & breakfast basis. The meals in Istanbul and on the way to the camp site are volunteers’ responsibility until the group reaches to the camp site. The rest of the camp days will be spent in Mardin province.
