Eine Teilnahme an Workcamps in Russland empfehlen wir  Freiwilligen mit Vorerfahrungen und nach Möglichkeit auch etwas Russischkenntnissen.

Workshops und Spass fuer Kinder im Meschera Nationalpark

PROJECT: The host of the camp is the Informational and Educational Centre “Sodruzhestvo,” an independent nonprofit organisation located in Ryazan. Children in the camp get the chance to improve their knowledge of Economics and English, and also develop other talents. For volunteers, this camp is an opportunity to exchange teaching experience and original ideas in non-formal educational, and to experience special cultural events. The camp place is situated in Ryazan region (90 km from Ryazan) in the national park Meschera, so the participants will have an opportunity to enjoy beautiful Russian nature.
Ryazan is an ancient Russian town about 190 km southeast of Moscow. It is beautifully located on the Oka river, with a very romantic Kremlin, standing high above the city. Ryazan has a beautiful ensemble of churches and monastery buildings with typical Russian golden domes.
WORK: Volunteers will be involved in the organisation of educational and fun activities for children. They are expected to conduct linguistic workshops, prepare different events, and organise and referee sport matches. Another task for volunteers is to organise themed days on their home countries for the children.
ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will stay in the camp buildings, 4 people per room, with shared facilities. Food will be provided in the canteen.
TERMINAL: Moscow train station and airport. The volunteers will be met there.

Workcamp im Eco Village nahe der lettischen Grenze

PROJECT: Aim of the project: protection of the local eco-system, popularization of permaculture and environmentally friendly lifestyle. The eco-village Clean sky is a community located next to a natural park 30 km from the border to Latvia.
WORK: take care about plants, young trees, cut invasive species, collect herbs, gardening and organic farming
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: in summer hostel. There are shower and washing mashine. Toilets are outside the house. Summer kitchen is open air. All kitchen facilities available. Only vegetarian meals
LOCATION AND LEISURE: Pskov oblast, Sebezhki raion, city Sebezh. Next to the village there is a forest, a clean lake and a national park (4km). 30 km away from a border to Latvia. Leisure: visit to Pskov, tour in the national park Sebezhski, swimming in the lake, crafts and handmade.

Workcamp in der Leo Tolstoy Museums- und Gedenkstaette

PROJECT: The state memorial and natural reserve Museum-estate of Leo Tolstoy Yasnaya Polyanai is one of the largest museum-reserves in the country. This is where the famous writer wrote his masterpieces such as War and Peace and Anna Karenina. The territory is huge, there is a genuine manor house of 18th nd 19th centuries, Leo Tolstoy's grave, parks, gardens, forests, meadows and agricultural land.
WORK: Volunteers work from 9 till 15.30 with a break for lunch. They do environmental work i collect branches, work in gardens and greenhouses.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: Volunteers will stay in a hotel, 15 minutes walk from the museum. There are showers, bathrooms, beds and tables in each room. Three meals will be provided for the volunteers.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: On the territory of the estate there are unique historical buildings surrounded by forests, gardens and picturesque landscapes. Walking in this place transports visitors into the world of Russian noble estate of the 19th century.
Museum organizes a cultural program – excursion to the museum of Leo Tolstoy, a biking tour around the estate, tour to the exhibition of folk art, master-classes in ceramics and floral design, etc. There is a hall in the hotel where volunteers will meet up in the evenings to relax and have fun. There are more areas outside where they can also spend free time or visit cities around during free days.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Interest in Russian culture

Arbeit beim internationalen Festival der Landschaftsarchitektur

PROJECT: Since 2006 the annual international festival of landscape architecture Arch-Stoyaniye takes place in Kaluga region in the land-art park Nikola-Lenivets (220 km away from Moscow). The festival is annually visited by more than 9000 guests. Information coverage of the event is 20 mln. of contacts.
Participants of the festival are national and international artists and architects. They use materials typical for the region and construct object in harmony with the given landscape. Festival’s aspects are architectural objects, installations, performances and exhibitions.
The festival offers a modern view to the development of remote areas and territories. The idea of the festival is an interaction with the landscape by means of creative practices and contemporary art.
Arch-Stoyaniye attracts attention of the target audience (architects, artists, designers, businessmen, politicians, art students, community leaders and local residents) to natural and cultural heritage of the region, to environment and uniqueness of local communities.
WORK: Volunteers are invited to help in the preparation of the festival area for construction of art-objects. Another task is guiding visitors. Before the festival the volunteers are supposed to build up tents and arrange the camping site for other volunteers and staff. Help in construction of architecture objects is also needed.
During the festival volunteers will take care of the constructed objects, guide visitors and help the staff in current needs.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: In tents, 2-3 persons per tent. Mats provided, please take your own sleeping bag. Volunteers and staff will have meals in a small restaurant of guest houses. During the festival meals will be provided on the territory of the festival from the mobile kitchen. Volunteers might have kitchen duties. Vegetarian meals are possible.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: landscape park Nikola-Lenivets, Kaluga region, 220 km away from Moscow, 80 km away from Kaluga. Transfer of volunteers will be provided to and from the festival area. Distance to the closest grocery shop – 3 km, next gasoline station – 20 km.
REQUIREMENTS: ability to use tools (hammer, saw, electrical instruments as well), adaptability (living in tents, no fear toward different weather and basic living conditions) and motivation, of course The volunteers should be aware that the work on the festival is hard and mostly not limited by working hours

Renovierungsprojekt in einer russischen Kleinstadt

PROJECT: The workcamp is run in the cooperation with Department of youth, culture and sport of Yaroslavl Region.
WORK: This year volunteers will renovate social objects (museums, houses-boarding schools, schools, etc.) and monuments. Volunteers will work together with Russian participants of the camp. Work 6 hours a day except 1 day in week.
During the last few years the Children’s home (2009) and the House of mercy (2009), Pensioner’s apartments, an accomplishment of parks to the 1000 years anniversary of the Yaroslavl city (2010), schools, kindergartens and social rehabilitation centres (2011-2014) have been repaired.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: Lodging, food and excursions are provided by the local host. Volunteers will live in local stone buildings, located not far from the work place, toilet and bathroom on the floor. Meals 3 times a day will be provided in the canteen. Alcohol is prohibited in our camp.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: This camp is a great opportunity to see one of the small towns of Russia. Rostov is situated between Yaroslavl and Uglich. Rostov is a very old and beautiful russian city (founded in 862) with a Kremlin, situated on the bank of Nero lake.
On days off we offer excursions and free time activities. Volunteers may enjoy hiking around the area, where are many museums, churches and beautiful nature. The trip to Yaroslavl’ – a regional center and one of the oldest and most beautiful cities of the “Golden ring” of Russia – will be organized.

Workcamp im Eco Village beim Nationalpark Ugra

PROJECT: Eco-community Milionki is a village in Kaluga region, 200 km from Moscow. Families from cities come here to change their lifestyle into healthier and environmentally friendlier way. They make organic farming and educate their children in the sense of conscious lifestyle. http://milenki.ru On the territory of the eco-village run hand-made, yoga and music festivals. The village inhabitants have established their own school and a horse breeding farm.
WORK: In summer the eco-village hosts family camps for local visitors. Volunteers are invited to help during the events – to take care of the territory (clean it and repair what is needed) and guide guests. The help is needed for construction of various objects in the eco-village.
Here the volunteers can learn technologies of eco-buildings and engineering methods of our ancestors. Participants can learn to bake bread, prepare various vegetarian meals, practice crafts and learn new techniques. Participant will get an insight to alternative lifestyle communities of Russia, understand it’s economy and cooperation principles.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: In tents on the territory of a well equipped camping. Many visitors of the eco-village live there in tents for several weeks. Summer kitchen is equipped with all facilities. Volunteers will cook for themselves. Showers and toilets are simply designed. The shower is heated from the sun, but it is possible to visit banya (Russian type of sauna). Toilets are of the latrine type.
Meals: volunteers will cook for themselves. Sometimes during the regular events, the canteen will work and the staff will cook for everyone. Only vegetarian meals are possible.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: 60 km away from the city Kaluga, on the borderline to the national park “Ugra”, around 200 km from Moscow. Here the volunteers can learn technologies of eco-buildings and engineering methods of our ancestors, as well as how to bake bread, prepare various vegetarian meals and practice crafts. They will get an insight to alternative communities of Russia, understand its economy and cooperation principles.
REQUIREMENTS: Smoking and drinking alcohol is prohibited on the territory. Propaganda of any of religions is not allowed. If you want an individual tent, it’s good to bring it with you. Please bring your own sleeping bag!

Kulturelle Vielfalt und Jugendarbeit in der Region Kirov

PROJECT: The camp is organised by the youth NGO “World without borders.” The main aim of this organisation is to promote the cultural diversity of Kirov region and to develop multicultural dialogue between young locals and their peers from different countries. The goal of the camp is to give young people an opportunity to self-organise their leisure time and everyday life, and to foster cross-cultural interaction. Volunteers will work in a team of professional group leaders, sport trainers, instructors and animators.
WORK: The volunteers will help to organise ice-breakers, teambuilding activities, sports and outdoor games, and fun activities for youths. They are as well asked to run workshops about the culture in their home country. The workshops should include stories about traditions, customs, folk games, cuisine and language of the country presented. Last but not least, the volunteers can support professional workers in non-formal education activities (workshops on different cultures and languages, healthy life style etc.) and art activities (art workshops, preparing evening concerts and performances).
ACCOMMODATION: Tents for 3-4 people (sleeping bag and a mattress are required). Toilets and showers will be available in special cabins outside. Unfortunately, vegetarian food cannot be provided, so participants need to be willing to eat meat.
TERMINAL: Kirov railway station and airport. Transfer will be provided.
REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers should be able to communicate with children, know different games and ways of working with young people, have presentation skills, be sociable, responsible, organized, meat eater and ready to live in field conditions. Medical documents that prove the permission to work with children required.

Weltkulturerbe Camp auf den Solowezki-Inseln im Weissen Meer

PROJECT: This is a UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers project. It is organized in cooperation with Solovki State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve, which is well-known due to Solovetsky Monastery. Since 15th century Solovetsky Archipelago with its monastery was a religious citadel in the Russian North before being closed by Soviet government in 1920 and turned into a special Soviet prison and labour camp (1926–1939), the Gulag, - for some people the site still reminds of this horrible period in USSR history, a symbol of Stalin’s repressions.
WORK: The project aims at assisting in preservation of the World Heritage site by doing physical work and organizing educational activities. Volunteers themselves will learn about the history and uniqueness of the Solovetsky Islands Ensemble and help enrich biodiversity of the Islands’ ecosystem. They will raise awareness on heritage issues as well as promote World Heritage Volunteers initiative among locals and visitors.
During the project volunteers will work at the Botanical Garden founded by the monks in 1822, namely plant, weed, and fertilize trees, herbs and flowers of cultural and historical significance. They will also plant seeds (seedlings) that they are to bring from home to contribute to the variety of the plants on the Islands (more on that will be provided in the information list). Moreover, international volunteers will participate in workshops and presentations of the World Heritage Volunteers campaign and discuss with locals, tourists and Russian volunteers the importance of heritage preservation.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: Volunteers will live in tents in a well-equipped camping of the garden. Food will be provided; volunteers will cook by themselves as a group.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: The Solovetsky archipelago comprises of six islands in the western part of the White Sea less then 100 miles south of the Arctic Circle. They have been inhabited since the 5th century B.C. and important traces of human presence from as far back as the 5th millennium B.C. can be found there. Since 15th century Solovetsky Archipelago with its monastery was a religious citadel of the Russian North, there are several churches dating back to 16th-19th century.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers are going to live on the campsite of the Botanical Garden. There you’ll need some regular clothes for work and rest. But as soon as we decide to have an excursion and visit some monastery or church you will have to follow the rules of the place. Girls should wear long skirts, which should cover their knees. Their heads should be also covered by headscarf or something like this, also your arms should be covered with long sleeves.
Boys shouldn’t wear T-shirts and shorts in the monastery, their legs and arms should be covered. They don’t have to cover their head while visiting church.
TERMINAL: Nearest terminal is Kem, a small town in Karelia. It takes 2 hours to travel from Kem to the island by boat. Volunteers have to arrive at least 2 days before the project starts. We suggest arriving to Saint-Petersburg. Meeting point will be in Saint-Petersburg, then participants will go together with camp-leaders to Kem by train (it takes 16 hours), then by boat to the island.

Arbeitseinsatz im Besucherteil des Pribaikalsky Nationalpark am Baikalsee

PROJECT: Baikal is the largest sweet-water lake in the world. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is situated in the south of Siberia. The project host is Pribaikalsky National Park. It covers the southwest coast of Lake Baikal in southeastern Siberia. The coastal strip includes some mountain ridges to the west as well as offshore islands such as Olkhon Island to the east. The Angara River, which is the outflow of Lake Baikal west into the Yenisei River basin, runs through the park. The park has very high levels of biodiversity and endemic species.
WORK: Volunteers are invited to work on the tourist path. It is necessary to deconstruct and rebuild again the 3 old bridges, to install information shields, to make wooden basis for tents and arrange 3 fire places. It is necessary to load and to upload woods, to remove rubbish and to arrange touristic area. The working tasks on the tourist path will reduce the negative tourist influence on the forest and its soil. The well designed tourist path gives useful and protecting information for visitors.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: Accommodation will be in tents on the territory of Baikal national park (Pribaikalski) close to the forestry of Angosolka. Shower and banya (Russian type of sauna) will be provided. The drinking water is from the water spring. Cooking - on the fire. Generally, the water in the lake Baikal is so clean, that it is drinkable just as it is.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: Excursions: Circum-Baikal Express trip is a must-have journey for Baikal first-timers. Volunteers can join a travel with an old fashioned train and observe breathtaking views on the Baikal historical railway – the miracle of engineering skills. The volunteers can visit museum of Roerich – the Russian philosopher, traveler and painter of Himalaya and Tibet, the mysterious searcher of shambhala. The volunteers will surely take a round tour in the Pribaikalski natural park
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Motivation letter is needed. Obligatory: Vaccination against encephalitis! It is necessary to get it min. 2 month before the trip to Siberia!

EXTRA FEE: 95 Euro (the host organization is not able to finance meals for the group, but they provide leisure tours for free, as well as tents and other camping equipment)
SPECIAL REMARKS: Optionally, volunteers are invited to take part in pre-camp days – it will be a unique travel with a Transsiberian railway from Moscow to Irkutsk with a campleader of the group. The group will make stops in Kazan, Omsk and other cities to see all Russia on your way to Baikal lake. Participation in Transsiberian Railway trip is 200 € + meals!

PROJECT: The project is organised by ITMO University in St. Petersburg, one of the leading universities in Russia in the field of information and photonic technologies. Together with high level educational work, the university provides students with opportunities for social life. There are a student government, a student ecological group and a voluntary organisation dealing with different social issues. The volunteers will cooperate with students involved in environmental voluntary work. The work will take place outside of the city, in the university's educational sport centre for students “Yagodnoe” (100 km from St. Petersburg).
WORK: Volunteers will be asked to help with several tasks: organising non-formal education ecological activities for tourists, paving hiking paths, conducting renovation work in the centre, collecting and separating garbage and cleaning fireplaces in the tourist area near the centre. Besides, they are asked to take part in the International festival of social entrepreneurship and contribute to an exhibition of the social projects’ prototypes. Volunteers will work about 6 hours a day. In addition, they get the opportunity to take part in lectures on medicinal plants and ecological features of garbage collection.
ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will stay in wooden houses with rooms for 2-4 persons. Showers and toilets will be provided in separate buildings. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided in the canteen.

Non-formal education und Renovierungsarbeiten im Nordwesten Russlands

PROJECT: The camp is organised by the Polistovsky National Nature Reserve which is situated in the northwest of Russia, in Pskov region. It was established in 1994 and it preserves the biggest bog system in Europe. The Reserve works a lot with ecological education for children: there are ecological expeditions, summer schools and different workshops organised for local kids.
WORK: The volunteers will mainly work with kids in the field of non-formal ecological education. They will also help the local community with some renovation work (renovation of playground, cleaning the lakeside), apple harvesting, and conducting intercultural workshops and events.
ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will be accommodated in a comfortable guest house of the Reserve. Washing machine and bathrooms are available in the same building. There is an equipped kitchen with a stove, fridge and water. WIFI is also available.
TERMINAL: Tsevlo village. It is a really small village, situated 200 km away from Pskov and 300 km from Novgorod the Great. Volunteers will be picked up at the stations “Velikiye Luki” or “Sushchevo.” (To get there, they should take a train from Moscow or St.Petersburg).

Workcamp ab 30 im Naturpark Divnogorye

PROJECT: If you are looking for a fun filled summer at a picturesque location of natural beauty, this project is for you. The place is Divnogorye, a beautiful rural location in near Voronezh, Russia!
The project started in 2012, and has already hosted several international work camps.
The hosting organization is a voluntary center InterAction Club in cooperation with the natural preserve Divnogorye www.divnogor.ru . “Divnogorye” means “Wonder Mountains”. A lot of artistic events take place in the village, such as modern arts performances, concerts and seminars.
On the spot, you discover a natural preserve, an ancient monastery with the churches built right inside the chalk hills, and a beautiful river. The project is suitable for adventurous and creative volunteers who crave for fun and wish to experience life at a Russian village.
WORK: This project involves maintenance of a residential area for volunteers and territory of the natural preserve Divnogorye.
Obligatory tasks can be combined with optional activities, which are based on volunteers’ talents and skills.
Project tasks: creation of herbal garden, gardening (planting trees and bushes), building a fence around the residence, painting works.
Optional tasks: cleaning tourist path from rubbish, renovation of the terrace of the volunteer’s house,renovation of old-fashioned furniture, and hand made.
Attention! Working tasks are mostly outside, volunteers have to be ready for physically demanding tasks.
In summer it is quite hot (+30 C).
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: iVolunteers will be accommodated in a village house, 3-4 participants per room, male and female in separate rooms. There is no hot water supply there, so water will be sun-heated, or an electric heater may be used. The toilets will be of a basic design (latrine type). The river is located within just a 15-min walk from the host house. Banya (Russian type of sauna) with hot water and shower is available. The volunteers will cook for themselves. Drinking water will be taken from a well. 2 local camp leaders will support volunteers in the practical issues. At weekends and days off the host organization provides sightseeing options.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: Volunteers can join the events taking place in the village. Also, excursions and day trips will be organized to the natural preserve and open air museum of Divnogorye, neighbor towns, and Voronezh. The volunteers can enjoy swimming, fishing, hiking and taking sunbaths without any limitations!
It is easy to get to the place from Moscow, Voronezh or Liski.

REQUIREMENTS: Please send your motivation letter. Attention of allergic volunteers: physical work, a lot of sun, a lot of plants and herbs. Please, bring a sleeping bag and a repellent!

Organisiere Freizeitaktivitaeten fuer Kinder

PROJECT: The camp is hosted by Smolensk regional public youth organization “Rassvet-S” on the base of a rehabilitation center for children and youth “Cherry”. The center was established in 1981 as a children’s health-improving camp. Since 2006 it became a rehabilitation centre for children. Every year the center hosts about 3000 children. There are children with different kinds of disabilities: infantile cerebral paralysis and other physical and mental disabilities.
WORK: Volunteers will help to organize entertaining activities and sport games for the children. Also they will help tutors in the activities aimed at the social rehabilitation of disabled children: games, painting, organizing workshops. Volunteers together with children will attend hiking tour and will be asked to help tutors to take care of the children and help with technical things like cook food, make fire, set tents etc. Also volunteers will be asked to organize open air events for children who live in the Center and other children in the city: concerts, games, workshops. Help with renovation of the center (cleaning, painting, etc)
ACCOMMODATION: Rooms for 5-7 people in a building with all facilities (bathroom, toilet; it is also possible to organize laundering). Food will be prepared in the canteen.
LOCATION: Smolensk. Having picnics in the forest, making a tour in Smolensk city. The volunteers will be able to visit Smolensk Kremlin and the most interesting museums, including a Second World War museum and a Diamond processing factory.
TERMINAL: Smolensk train station or airport.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers should provide the following document from their doctor that they are healthy and can work with children: HIV test, Hepatitis B and C, Syphilis test, Fluorography examination - Confirmation from your therapeutist that you are healthy and can work with children.

The Angara River, which is the outflow of Lake Baikal west into the Yenisei River basin, runs through the park. The park has very high levels of biodiversity and endemic species.
WORK: Volunteers are invited to work on the tourist path. It is necessary to deconstruct and rebuild again the 3 old bridges, to install information shields, to make wooden basis for tents and arrange 3 fire places. It is necessary to load and to upload woods, to remove rubbish and to arrange touristic area. The working tasks on the tourist path will reduce the negative tourist influence on the forest and its soil. The well designed tourist path gives useful and protecting information for visitors.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: Accommodation will be in tents on the territory of Baikal national park (Pribaikalski) close to the forestry of Angosolka. Shower and banya (Russian type of sauna) will be provided. The drinking water is from the water spring. Cooking - on the fire. Generally, the water in the lake Baikal is so clean, that it is drinkable just as it is.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: Excursions: Circum-Baikal Express trip is a must-have journey for Baikal first-timers. Volunteers can join a travel with an old fashioned train and observe breathtaking views on the Baikal historical railway – the miracle of engineering skills. The volunteers can visit museum of Roerich – the Russian philosopher, traveler and painter of Himalaya and Tibet, the mysterious searcher of shambhala. The volunteers will surely take a round tour in the Pribaikalski natural park
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Motivation letter is needed. Obligatory: Vaccination against encephalitis! It is necessary to get it min. 2 month before the trip to Siberia!

EXTRA FEE: 95 Euro (the host organization is not able to finance meals for the group, but they provide leisure tours for free, as well as tents and other camping equipment)
SPECIAL REMARKS: Optionally, volunteers are invited to take part in pre-camp days – it will be a unique travel with a Transsiberian railway from Moscow to Irkutsk with a campleader of the group. The group will make stops in Kazan, Omsk and other cities to see all Russia on your way to Baikal lake. Participation in Transsiberian Railway trip is 200 € + meals!
