Russland W4U-02 “The trail of Knyazhes Volkonsky” (Moscow region) 15.06.-06.07.2012 RENO 15vols
WORK: Three springs on the territory of the estate need to be restored and equipped. These springs give pure drinking water, which is used by local people. The volunteers will clean and strengthen the watercourse, arrange the ramp to the springs, construct the footbridges for taking water. As the work will run in the forest area, it is necessary to bring a mosquito spray.
ACCOMMODATION: Dormitories (2-4 person), toilet and shower on the floor, three meals a day in the canteen in five minutes' walk from the workplace (vegetarian food is possible).Moreover a separate kitchen may be used by volunteers for the evenings of national cuisine and gatherings with tea.
FREE TIME ACTIVITIES: On the territory of the estate volunteers may enjoy playing tennis or billiards, walking in the forest, swimming in the pond, fishing, warming up in the sauna. In the evenings national cuisine parties, bonfires with the tales about the history of the estate and the Volkonsky’s family, visits in the old family library, excursions to Moscow (Red Square and other attractions including night in Moscow) will be organized. Moreover volunteers might share different activities with the students of the Architectural University.
LOCATION: Sukhanovo is the former manor of the nobility that was owned by the Volkonsky family. Among the members of this family there were important Russian generals, who took part in the war with Napoleon in the year 1812. One of them was used by Lev Tolstoy as a prototype of Knyazh Andrey Bolkonsky in the novel "War and Peace." Now "Sukhanovo" uses as holiday centre. The manor is under the oversight of the Russian Union of Architects, which makes some restoration work on its territory. "Sukhanovo" is a paradise for those who love history and nature. It is situated in the forest area on the picturesque banks of the cascade of three ponds. The heart of the estate is unique architectural monuments: palace of Knyazhes Volkonsky, family’s crypt, guesthouse, kitchen wing. There is a colourful apple garden, springs with pure drinking water and a tennis court. This magical place is located a few kilometres south of Moscow, between cities Podolsk and Vidnoye.
REQUIREMENTS: No special skills are required, but high motivation and interest in Russian history.
TRANSPORTATION: From any airport/railway station in Moscow about 40 minutes by subway, then 15 minutes by bus or taxi
Russland SFERA-05 THE ISLAND CALLED CHILDHOOD (SNEZHINSK) 24.06.-14.07.2012 KIDS 10vols
In Chelyabinsk, there are a lot of industries. The population of Chelyabinsk is more than a million inhabitants. Chelyabinsk is also a very young city. The city has well developed children's and youth organizations. The camp will be organized near Chelyabinsk in the modern city Snezhinsk.
WORK: Volunteers will work in a children's camp where approximately 480 children aged 7 to 16 years will be located. The main tasks of the foreign volunteers are to tell children about the culture of their country, to make presentations of traditional games, tales, songs, organize “Days of cultures”. Volunteers will also teach children their mother tongues. Foreign volunteers will work together with students from different cities of Russia: Chelyabinsk, Snezhinsk, Orenburg, St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg and Tyumen. Volunteers will participate in evening activities as participants in the concert, members of the jury, experts, and members of sport teams. During the first camp (24/06 – 14/07) volunteers will participate in the celebrating of the camp birthday: fireworks, concerts, meetings with interesting people, making stars avenue.
LEISURE TIME: Swimming in the lake, hiking to Ural Mountains, sightseeing tour, picnics, and sports games.
ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will live in two-storeyed brick houses in the rooms for 2-4 people. The food will be provided in the canteen.
TERMINAL: Chelyabinsk or Ekaterinburg train station or airport.
LOCATION: Chelyabinsk region.

Russland W4U-04 «Northern Theatre» (Republic Karelia) 02.07.-11.07.2012 KIDS/LANG 4vols
WORK: This project is for those who love kids and would like to spend lots of time with them, as all the activities are based in local school. Volunteers will give master-classes of English and other languages for kids, so that they can improve their language skills and learn about different countries the volunteers are coming from. Other part of the work will be preparing a theatre-play in English with local kids, so by the end of the project volunteers could give the performance. We will be busy 5-6 hours a day, but time will be split between morning master classes and evening events.
ACCOMMODATION: Participants will live in the well-equipped school or in a hostel. There is a toilet and a shower. In the evenings we can go to a traditional Russian sauna “banya” placed in the same building. We will make breakfast ourselves; lunch and dinner will be served in the canteen.
LOCATION: Karelia is a unique area of Russia where outstanding natural beauty meets a great cultural heritage, included into the UNESCO list. Pitkyaranta is a district centre of republic Karelia. The town is pretty close to the border, so long time ago this territory belonged to Sweden, then to Russia and later to Finland. Changing of the countries and people has led to interesting mix of cultures in this region. High steep rocks together with coastal water-meadows, pine forest that grow on meagre soil, and dense broad-leaved trees and tillage together with fresh groves present beautiful contrasting nature. With its rich nature this area is considered to be the best in Russia for hiking and hunting.
FREE TIME ACTIVITIES: First you will have a pleasure to observe “white nights” – a very special northern phenomenon, when it is twilight during the night. We will have evening program in the sphere of international communication: meetings with locals, sport activities, outdoor games, fishing, swimming and boating – we have a beautiful lake nearby (the Ladoga Lake is the biggest lake in Europe). We can visit Ruskeala marble canyon and Natural Park “Ladozhskie shkhery” which landscape was formed by a glacier in the ice age. Depending on group decision we can also visit Valaam Island with the monastery which is one of the most important holy places in Russia and attracts thousands of pilgrims.
TRANSPORTATION: 14-16 hours by train from Saint-Petersburg to Petrozavodsk, then 3-4 hours by bus or by car to Pitkyaranta, or from Saint-Petersburg – 8-9 hours by bus to Pitkyaranta.
Russland SFERA-07 SODRUZHESTVO-2012 (RYAZAN) 02.07.-12.07.2012 KIDS 8vols
WORK: The volunteers will organize animating and educational activities for children. They are expected to conduct linguistic workshops, to prepare different events and lead them for children, to organize and judge the sport matches. Another task for the volunteers is to elaborate and organize the days of their own countries for the children.
ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will live in two floored buildings on the territory of the camp (4 persons per room). A shower and a bathroom are available on the same floor with the living rooms. The food will be provided in the canteen.
LEISURE TIME: Excursions to Ryazan city and settlement Konstantinovo (where the famous Russian poet Sergei Esenin was born) and ancient cloister named Poschupovo. Different sport games like football, volleyball, ping-pong and swimming are available for the volunteers. The camp is located in the national park Meschera so the participants also will have an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Russian nature.
TERMINAL: Moscow train station and airport. The volunteers will be met there.
LOCATION: Ryazan, 190 km from Moscow. Ryazan is an ancient Russian town about 190 km southeast of Moscow. It is beautifully located on the Oka River, with a very romantic Kremlin, standing high above the city. The first mention about Ryazan dates back to 1095. The town sprang up as trading and defensive point of the Ryazan princedom; and was burned in 1365 and 1379 by Mongol-Tatars but restored afterwards. Throughout history Ryazan has been a center for science and culture. A Nobel Prize winner, Alexandr Solzhenitzsyn, taught at the local university. Isadora Duncan, the fascinating queen of the Free Dance, was married here to the well-known lyric poet Sergey Esenin. Ryazan has a beautiful ensemble of churches and monastery buildings with typical Russian golden domes. The Russian Art Museum exhibits pictures from painters like Aivasovsky, Korovin, Sarian, Serov, Venezianov and others. The concert hall is a center for classical music. Twelve beautiful churches are restored and full of ancient valuable icons. Two famous monasteries are situated not far from the town. The male monastery of Ioan Bogoslov (circa 15th century), and one for females in Solotcha (circa 12th century).
Russland W4U-05 “L&L” - Share your Love and Light (Samara) 06.07.-24.07.2012 KIDS/CULT 10vols
WORK: This project was designed for those who like to spend time with kids. Every day (except on weekends) international and Russian volunteers will go to different children orphanages and summer camp in Samara region with animation program prepared by it selves. This project is a chance for Russian children to get a glimpse of different cultures, and on the other side, to show Russian culture to foreign volunteers.
ACCOMMODATION: Comfortable rooms for 3-4 persons in a student hostel of Samara State University of Economics. You have meals 3 times a day and a coffee break in the hostel, in the children camp or in the student’s cafe depending on the program of the day. The group will be responsible for cooking breakfast and dinner.
LOCATION: Samara Region is situated in the midland of Russia. Long rows of Zhiguli Mountains stretch along the biggest river in Europe - Volga. Samara was founded in 1586 and nowadays the city is famous for its cultural life and as one of the spiritual centres of Russia with lots of monasteries, churches and chapels.
FREE TIME ACTIVITIES: Local student organization has prepared a great sightseeing program; you will visit the Bunker of Stalin, Volzhskaya Hydro Power Station, beautiful national park “Samarskaya Luka” and so on. There will also be interesting lections about Russian culture.
TRANSPORTATION: The nearest terminal is in Moscow. From Moscow you can come to Samara by train (time spent travelling 14-16 hour).
Russland W4U-06 “Golden cupola” (Yaroslavl' region) 09.07.-03.08.2012 RENO 15vols
WORK: This project is a part of a social renovation program, which is organized by regional government and has been running since 2004. During that period the following objects were repaired by the volunteers: the Orphan home (2009), the House of mercy (2009), pensioner’s apartments, parks of 1000 anniversary of the Yaroslavl city (2010). This year volunteers will continue to repair pensioner’s apartments and the other social objects (the socially-rehabilitation centres, schools, monuments of architecture. Volunteers will work together with Russian participants in the camp. Work 6-8 hours a day except 1 day in week.
LOCATION: Yaroslavl is one of the beautiful cities of “Golden Ring” of Russia. The Golden Ring (Russian: Zolotoye Kol’tso) is a number of towns surrounding and including Moscow. Yaroslavl is located 250 kilometres northeast of Moscow at the confluence of the Volga and the Kotorosl rivers. Yaroslavl is a city with about 1000 years of history. Its historical part is one of the World Heritage Sites. Population of city is 606,000 people.
ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will live in the dormitory, located not far from the work place, 4-6 people in the room, toilet and bathroom on the floor. Meals will be provided 3 times a day by the school canteen (food is not vegetarian).
FREE TIME ACTIVITIES: Volunteers could enjoy swimming in the Volga River, the beach is not far from campsite, hiking around the camp’s area, where are many churches, beautiful nature landscapes and the other place of interest, make picnics. Volunteers could visit the Yaroslavl during the days off.
TRANSPORTATION: 4 hours from Moscow by bus or train.
Russland SFERA-09 EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL-1 (NIZHNY NOVGOROD REGION, SEMENOV DISTRICT, BELASOVK) 09.07.-26.07.2012 KIDS/DISA 6vols
The camp is organized by the Regional Center of family and children support «Young Nizhegorodets». It was opened in 1981 as a children’s health- improving camp. Since 2006 it became a rehabilitation centre for children. Every year the center hosts about 3000 children with their parents, partly from socially disadvantaged families and orphanages. The other children are suffering from disordered motor functions, they are accompanied by their parents. The center is located in a very picturesque place not far from the Kerzhenskyi reserved area on the river shore. There is an oak-wood and birch grove around the center.
WORK: The volunteers are expected to help to organize entertaining activities and sport games for disabled children. Also the volunteers will help tutors in the activities orientated to social rehabilitation of disabled children. As well as to support the decoration the children’s rooms, the corridors of the Center and landscaping around the Center. Horse therapy is one of the children’s treatments in “Young Nizhegorodets” so one of the other possible activities for the volunteers is to work as a horse-breeder. You will help the staff to decorate the territory of the Center.
LEISURE TIME: Walking in the forest, visiting a gymnasium. The volunteers will be able to ride horses. Also it’s possible to make a tour of the Semenov and Nizhniy Novgorod and Gorodets town, to visit Semenov’s factory of hohloma paintings and to paint a matreshka by themselves.
ACCOMMODATION: in the center building, in rooms for 3-4 persons, bathroom available. Meals are prepared in the canteen.
LOCATION: Nizhny Novgorod region, Semenov district, Belasovka village. The distances: 100km from Nizhniy Novgorod, 25 km from Semenov. Nizhniy Novgorod was founded in 1221 at the place of fusion of two Great Russian Rivers the Volga and the Oka. From 1932 until 1990 it was named Gorky in honor of Great Russian writer Maxim Gorky. The city has a rich history and more than 600 historical, architectural and cultural sights testify to it. It was inscribed in the list of 100 cities of the world with high cultural and historical profile by UNESCO. Semenov is a small town not far from Nizhniy Novgorod. It is located at the Sanakhta River. It was founded in 17 century. The city is famous for its factory of hohloma painting, which is one of ancient kinds of Russian skills all over the world.

Russland SFERA-10 GREEN MOSCOW (MOSCOW) 11.07.-28.07.2012 ENVI 12vols (no more female)

The project is organized by the botanical garden of the Moscow State University (MSU). This University is the largest University in Russia and one of the oldest. It was founded in 1755 by Mikhail Lomonosov, whose name was later added to the name of the institution in his honor. The botanic garden of MSU was founded at 1706. Then it was just a chemist’s garden. Medicinal herbs were grown there. In 1805 it was bought by MSU and since the middle of the 19th century exotic plants started to be grown in the garden. Classes for the students have been conducted since the end of 19th century in the botanic garden. During its lifetime a few thousands sorts of the plants were grown in the garden.
WORK: The main task of the work includes the rearrangement of two parts of the garden’s territory. The volunteers will have to take care of the garden and flower-beds, to cut bushes, take away rubbish and to dig up ground. Also they will plant, and gather berries and fruits. One of the possible activities of the volunteers is helping to lead excursions in the garden. The new site of the Botanical Garden, designed for people with disabilities. The volunteers are expected to work six hours per day. And be ready for manual labor. Besides volunteers will take part in the ecological conference.
LEISURE TIME: Volunteers will be able to make a tour of Moscow, to visit the Kremlin and the Red Square, to visit other Moscow botanic gardens and the protected natural territories of the Moscow city and also famous Moscow museums. Different sport games, parties, play etc.
ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will live in the dormitory of the Moscow State University. Bathroom and kitchen are available. The volunteers will cook breakfast and dinner by themselves, lunch will be provided in the canteen.

Russland W4U-07 “Voluntary Forest Firefighters Camp” 15.07.-05.08.2012 ENVI 4vols
Basic level of Russian is helpful! This is a technology-free workcamp for people who love nature and camping!
WORK: There is large variety of tasks waiting for you: Detecting and putting out fires on National Park land; monitoring the land from motor and sailing boats. Monitor the land with binoculars from various islands. Looking after islands (clearing away rubbish; setting up anti-fires sings), running the camp (housekeeping tasks; help with meals preparation) Working hours: 3-8 hours/day, however it can vary depending on current tasks and number of people. It is important to keep in mind that the main goal of this camp is to detect and extinguish forest fires - it is priority task and rest of work, day routines and discipline are built around it. Normally there are 5-20 Russian volunteers in the camp but their number changes all the time. There are not any fixed groups. Camp commander puts together teams depending on the task and general situation.
ACCOMMODATIONS: There are tents for 2-4 people in the camp. Please, bring your own mat and sleeping bag and a tent if you have one. Laundry may be done in the lake. The food is prepared for the whole participants on camp fire or on gas stove. The camp is based on an island in the distance from civilization. Many participants of the camp are vegetarians so the main dishes are cooked without meat (and most likely without other non-vegetarian products). There are meat and other non-vegetarian products in the camp that may be added to food individually.
FREE TIME ACTIVITIES: You may enjoy swimming in Ladoga - the water is very clean but cold. In the evenings all team gather for chatting, playing guitar, games or just lying on the shore of the biggest lake in Europe gazing at the stars. Many people come to the camp for short periods so there are always new people to meet. Participants may go to the smaller camp in the other island for watching seals, rare birds and fishing. Normally participants go to a town only to get more food or petrol, but sometimes it is possible to arrange a trip to Karela where a 11th century fortress based near the town of Priozersk. The trainings and lectures in sailing, driving motor boats, putting out fires, orienteering, first aid and tying knots will be organized during the camp time. Important: In the hot time there might be a lot of fires and most of the participants may not be on for evening recreational activities in the camp.
LOCATION: Ladoga is one of the biggest fresh water lake in Europe. It is situated in the Republic of Karelia in the north-west of Russia. The islands of the lake have unique vegetation. It is home for many rare species animals and birds. The Ladoga’s skerries suffer from forest fires in summer time. It is great problem, because it takes several hundred years for a burnt island to recover fully from fire. We welcome to join us anyone who would like to make a difference in the situation with forest fires on Ladoga and at the same time have a holiday in one of the most beautiful places in the Republic of Karelia. The camp is based on the island "Pieni-Hepposaari". It is organized by the Voluntary Forest Firefighters Society which yearly sets up a camp on the shore of lake Ladoga and takes care of the islands and forest around
REQUIREMENTS: As volunteers will live outdoor they should have some camping experience. The camping conditions could seem too wild for the most of people. Also the weather conditions may be quite severe, so if you have poor health you’d better think this trip over first. As you’ll live with Russian volunteers the beginner level of Russian language is appreciated; the matter is that if you want to spend your time in a fire-fighting camp efficiently you have to learn a lot of new things. To sum it up, for this project we welcome volunteers with good health, outdoor camping experience; either they should be ready to possible difficulties of such life (food, personal hygiene, weather); it’s better to have some knowledge of Russian language or to be ready to learn it right in the camp. The relations in the camp are built on the base of friendliness and good will, but there are some rules for volunteers (as Russian volunteers as foreign ones). For keeping discipline in the camp the volunteer should to comply with the requests of the leader of the firefighters camp. The alcohol in the camp is strictly forbidden! Volunteers should inform their camp-leader or the leader of firefighters camp about any problems with their health. The ignoring of these rules may cause the really dangerous consequences.
TRANSPORTATION: The nearest terminal is in Saint-Petersburg where as usual is designated the meeting place; from Saint-Petersburg two hours by train to the boat station, than by boat to the camp.

Russland SFERA-11 TRAMPLIN (YOSHKAR- OLA) 16.07.-31.07.2012 KIDS 10vols
The camp is organized by Mari Republic Youth public organization “OPORA”. Among the activities of the organization there are promotion of a healthy life-style among youth and children, the realization of charitable activities (charity) and organization of camps for orphans and youth and children with different social backgrounds. The workcamp will take place in nature reserve “Pizhemskiy”. The main aim of the workcamp is helping in the physical, intellectual and social development of orphans and disadvantaged children.
WORK: The volunteers are expected to organize entertaining and educational activities, sport games, team- building activities including rock- climbing, rope- course, rafting, relay- races, classes about terrain orientation, etc. The volunteers will also organize a presentation of different cultures and lead different kinds of workshops for the children.
LEISURE TIME: The volunteers will be able to make a tour in the Yoshkar- Ola city, to visit Mari Kremlin, historical museum and some churches. Also the volunteers will be able to walk in the “Pizhemskiy” reserve and to take part in the different camp activities. Volunteers will be able to visit places of pagan prayers Mari - sacred groves in that reserve.
ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will live in tents, (you should bring a sleeping bag and a mattress), and one night during the workcamp the volunteers will sleep in a dormitory in Yoshkar- Ola. Toilets will be in special cabins outside. A special cook will prepare food.
LOCATION: Mari El Republic, Yoshkar- Ola city. Mari El Republic is a federal subject of Russia. It is located in the eastern part of the East European Plain of the Russian Federation, along the Volga River. The Republic’s capital is Yoshkar- Ola. It’s not a very big city of 350 000 inhabitants and it is 860 km away from Moscow. Before 1919, the city was named “Tsarevokokshaisk” and it was known as Krasnokokshaisk between the years of 1919 and 1927, but later was changed to Yoshkar-Ola, a word Mari means “Red-City”. It was founded at 1584.

Russland PZ-02 ECO-PATH (VORONEZH) 16.07.-29.07.2012 ENVI 10vols
PROJECT: The aim of the project is to maintain an eco-path for people limited by their sight. The project will take place in Voronezh Biosphere Reserve. It s a large natural area, an unusual combination of relief and climate, rich of unique flora and fauna and surrounded by forests and steppes.The reserve is one of the biggest nursery of beavers, it serves to protect and breed these animals, which had nearly all been killed by early last century. Volunteers will have the chance to observe the life of the beavers and to help the workers with looking after and feeding them.The Voronezh Biosphere Reserve abounds in historical and cultural landmarks and it was a part of the vast territory of the Russian-Tatar border. There are fragments of fortified structures and settlements serving a reminder of the Russian-Tatar period. There is a natural history museum on the site of the reserve. More detailed you can read here in Russian http://www.zapovednik-vrn.ru/ Volunteers will have an opportunity to attend a number of lectures and discussions on botany, zoology and the history of the place provided by the biologists and the scientists working on the site.
WORK: Volunteers will maintain an eco-path for visitors disabled by sight. Volunteers will be involved in the following activities: native tree species planting, cutting bushes and removing weeds, cleaning the territory of the museum and the green areas of the reserve, general maintenance of the area. They will also work on paths cleaning and maintenance. In collaboration with some local volunteers and assisted by the Reserve staff they will take part in building a path for visually impaired people. In addition, volunteers will have the possibility to observe and to feed the beavers and to enjoy pleasant moments beside the river.
ACCOMODATION : Tent camp. Tents and mattresses provided by the Reserve. It is important that you bring warm clothes and warm sleeping bag, especially during the night. Toilets are outside. There will be equipped summer shower and banya - Russian type of sauna.Meals prepared by volunteers in an open-air portable kitchen. Vegetarian food is possible, since the volunteers will cook by themselves. You will cook in a cooking place which is also equipped by a fridge and a stove; dishes and kitchenware will be provided.
LOCATION: The camp is situated in suburbs of the city Voronezh- the capital of the Central Black Earth Region of Russia. The city is located 500 km to the south from Moscow and has very good connections Moscow-Voronezh via railway, busses and planes. Voronezh also has international airport with flights to certain cities: Munich, Istanbul, Yerevan etc. The natural preserve area is around 1 hour bus ride from the city. The transfer of volunteers will be organized from Voronezh. A representative of the host organization will also meet volunteers in Moscow and help them to find their way to Voronezh.Excursions and day trips will be organized to Voronezh and Divnogorye - a village on the Don River by the Divnogorye Museum-Preserve, an open air museum full of interesting sites, including the ruins of a chalk fortress and a cave monastery and church, cut from the side of chalk cliffs and surrounded by natural chalk pillars.

The main tasks of the foreign volunteers are to tell children about the culture of their country, to make presentations of traditional games, tales, songs, organize “Days of cultures”. Volunteers will also teach children their mother tongues. Foreign volunteers will work together with students from different cities of Russia: Chelyabinsk, Snezhinsk, Orenburg, St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg and Tyumen. Volunteers will participate in evening activities as participants in the concert, members of the jury, experts, and members of sport teams. During the first camp (24/06 – 14/07) volunteers will participate in the celebrating of the camp birthday: fireworks, concerts, meetings with interesting people, making stars avenue.
LEISURE TIME: Swimming in the lake, hiking to Ural Mountains, sightseeing tour, picnics, and sports games.
ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will live in two-storeyed brick houses in the rooms for 2-4 people. The food will be provided in the canteen.

WORK: The camp is organized by the Inter-regional charitable public organization “Siberian Environmental Center”. Main objectives of the camp are the ecological improvement of the Siberian river Izdrevaya and the organization events to save it. Volunteer tasks will be:
- Cleaning the river banks of debris,
- Rafting on the river and the installation of information boards about the importance of preserving the river,
- Carrying out environmental actions,
- The distribution of environmental newspaper for local residents,
- The organization of ecological festivals for local children.
LEISURE TIME: Volunteers will play in group and sport games, fish, walk in real Siberian forest.
ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will live in tents. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be cooked by cooks in the specially organized a field kitchen. The camp will be provided by toilets and showers.

Russland PZ-05 FOLKLORE FESTIVAL IN LOMY (VORONEZH) 27.07.-16.08.2012 ENVI/FEST 6vols
PROJECT: Volunteers will have the chance to soak into the natural landscape of a rural touristic attraction i village Lomy. A folklore and artistic handicraft festival takes place in the Park once in two years. International artists and musicians, experts and folklore bands come to this festival which lasts during 3 days i each day in a different village of the area. This folklore festival represents authentic stile of singing of various regions in Russia and countries of CIS area. It represents traditional handcrafts of European part of Russia. This festival would be a great present for everyone interested in ethnography and traditional singing style.
WORK: Volunteers will take part in environmental activities such as cleaning up and renovating the territory of the Park before the festival, painting benches and garbage cans, decorating flowerbeds. You will help setting up the tents and the stages for the festival. During the festival - logistic work, cleaning and general maintenance of the Park. After the festival, you will mainly have to tidy up the festival and camping places.
ACCOMODATION: You will be staying in bungalows on the lakeside. Showers will be available in the nearby building.Meals will be provided. Volunteers will visit a local canteen for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
LOCATION: Environmental Lomy Park is around 270 km away from the city Voronezh (1 mio inhabitants), which is the nearest train station to the camp site. The transfer of the volunteers will be provided from Voronezh.A representative of the host organization will also meet volunteers in Moscow and help them to find their way to Voronezh.A few word to the site, which deserves additional description: the site is a collection of nature complexes and objects, numerous monuments of material and spiritual culture, monumental painting, archeology and ethnology. The history of Lomy reflects the history of Russia. Rich ethnographic material is reserved here. The historic-cultural elements of the Park s cultural landscapes (draw wells, sundial, traditional Russian stove, wind and water mills, pond with Russian sauna nearby, dwelling constructions and household outbuildings etc.) are the objects of high value. It makes it a unique region that has no analogue in Russia. Excursions and day trips will be organized to Voronezh and Divnogorye - a village on the Don River by the Divnogorye Museum-Preserve, an open air museum full of interesting sites, including the ruins of a chalk fortress and a cave monastery and church, cut from the side of Chalk cliffs and surrounded by natural chalk pillars.

The project will be organized near of the famous place in Russia - Lake Baikal. Lake Baikal in south-east Siberia, the deepest lake in the world at 1,637 m, contains 20% of all fresh running water on the planet, making it the single largest reservoir. The lake contains an outstanding variety of endemic flora and fauna, of exceptional value to evolutionary science. Lake Baikal is included in the World Heritage list of UNESCO. It’s very popular tourist area. Several years ago local environmental NGOs started to develop ecological tourism aiming to attract attention of local people and tourists to ecological and social problems of the nearest territories of Lake Baikal. This camp will help to promote and develop these ideas and involve more people in the environmental protection of Lake Baikal and nearest territories. Despite the development of ecological tourism in the region, there are a lot of old villages. Young families leave the region and go to other places. That’s why one of the key ideas of the camp is to attract attention of local authorities to this problem and also to activate the local people to the process of rebuilding villages and creating the territorial public communities.
WORK: The main tasks of volunteers are:
- making the grounds before the houses,
- repair, construction and painting of fences,
- collecting, sorting and export of garbage from the territory of the Lake Baikal coast,
- building playground for children using collected garbage (for example old tires),
- organizing of various forms of environmental education of local people to inform local people and tourists about importance, unique and ecological problems of Lake Baikal and nearest territories like PR-campaigns and exhibition “Second life of garbage”.
LEISURE TIME: swimming, hiking to the wild taiga forest, sport games.

The camp is organized by the Regional Center of family and children support «Young Nizhegorodets». It was opened in 1981 as a children’s health- improving camp. Since 2006 it became a rehabilitation centre for children. Every year the center hosts about 3000 children with their parents, partly from socially disadvantaged families and orphanages. The other children are suffering from disordered motor functions, they are accompanied by their parents. The center is located in a very picturesque place not far from the Kerzhenskyi reserved area on the river shore. There is an oak-wood and birch grove around the center.
WORK: The volunteers are expected to help to organize entertaining activities and sport games for disabled children. Also the volunteers will help tutors in the activities orientated to social rehabilitation of disabled children. As well as to support the decoration the children’s rooms, the corridors of the Center and landscaping around the Center. Horse therapy is one of the children’s treatments in “Young Nizhegorodets” so one of the other possible activities for the volunteers is to work as a horse-breeder. You will help the staff to decorate the territory of the Center.
LEISURE TIME: Walking in the forest, visiting a gymnasium. The volunteers will be able to ride horses. Also it’s possible to make a tour of the Semenov and Nizhniy Novgorod and Gorodets town, to visit Semenov’s factory of hohloma paintings and to paint a matreshka by themselves.

It is located at the Sanakhta River. It was founded in 17 century. The city is famous for its factory of hohloma painting, which is one of ancient kinds of Russian skills all over the world.

PROJECT: The aim of the project is to maintain an eco-path for people limited by their sight. The project will take place in Voronezh Biosphere Reserve. It s a large natural area, an unusual combination of relief and climate, rich of unique flora and fauna and surrounded by forests and steppes.The reserve is one of the biggest nursery of beavers, it serves to protect and breed these animals, which had nearly all been killed by early last century. Volunteers will have the chance to observe the life of the beavers and to help the workers with looking after and feeding them.The Voronezh Biosphere Reserve abounds in historical and cultural landmarks and it was a part of the vast territory of the Russian-Tatar border. There are fragments of fortified structures and settlements serving a reminder of the Russian-Tatar period. There is a natural history museum on the site of the reserve. In addition, volunteers will have the possibility to observe and to feed the beavers and to enjoy pleasant moments beside the river.

We will help monks in harvesting and cleaning the fields, grass cutting, preparing firewood and working in the garden. Volunteer should be ready to work hard. The work usually takes 6-7 hours a day.
ACCOMMODATION: In the dormitory (4-20 persons per room). Monastery provides beds with blankets, pillows etc. You should take working boots, gloves and clothes with you, raincoat and long skirts & kerchief for girls. The monastery provides ordinary (with meat) or vegetarian food. In the dormitory there is only cold water. Shower is available twice a week.

It is sometimes called "Mount Athos of the North". Valaam, surrounded by the archipelago of more than 50 beautiful small islands, is situated in Lake Ladoga. During its centuries-old history, the Monastery has suffered from devastation and desolation several times. But, by God's mercy, every time it revived. Last time it recovered in atheistic Soviet Union on December 14, 1989, when a ship with six monks moored in the harbour. Since that day, the new history of Valaam began. Today a lot of monks live here. Some of them renovate old churches, other work in the fields. People come to help them to save this cultural heritage, and due to them a lot of churches of Valaam are already renovated. A lot of pilgrims come every summer to visit Holy Earth and to help in renovation works.

The church in honor of the Annunciation was founded in 1878. During the Soviet time this church was partly destroyed. Every year in summer the church is under of reconstruction. This year the servants of the church decided to invite young people from different countries to help in the renovation and building work. The church is situated in very beautiful place not far from very famous and old Russian city Nizhniy Novgorod. Volunteers will have chance to see real Russian nature and culture.
WORK: Your tasks will be
- leveling the area with the use of manual labor;
- reconstruction of the crypt,
- the establishment of worship crosses,
- renovation of the entrance to the basement of the church,
- construction of terraces for the Sunday school.
