| In der Mongolei werden seit einigen Jahren internationale Workcamps von unserer Partnerorganisation Mongolian Camp Exchange (MCE) angeboten. Wir haben sehr positive Berichte von Teilnehmern dieser Camps bekommen. Die Mongolei ist sicher etwas für alle, die mal was ganz anderes sehen möchten und auch mit sehr einfachen Lebensbedingungen zurechtkommen. Die Mongolei ist per Flugzeug aber auch mit der Transsibirischen Eisenbahn zu erreichen. MCE holt die Campteilnehmer am Flughafen oder Bahnhof ab. | |
Zur Finanzierung der Projekte wird vor Ort eine Extra-Gebühr von 320.000 Mongolischer Tugrik erhoben (ca. 175 EUR bei Umrechnungsstand 22.12.2011), welche direkt nach deiner Ankunft beglichen werden sollte. Wir empfehlen dringend den Abschluss einer eigenen Auslandskrankenversicherung. Für Vegetarier/innen sind die Workcamps in der Mongolei nicht geeignet! | |
Mongolei MCE 04 Green heart-1 (Buhug) 19.05.-01.06.2012 CONS 15vols
The Camp will take place at the Buhug river, which is 45 km from the capitol city Ulaanbaatar. The temperature will be about 15-25 C, but be careful: the wheather will change a lot from sunny to rainy & windy. Since 2001 we started to build Base Camp site of MCE. During the last years we built there houses, planted trees and built toilets etc. This year we are planning to do the next part of the investment to the Camp, so volunteers will work on the construction of the Camp. Additional qualifications are to like construction work and a simple nomadic life.
WORK: We will work on the outside facilities of the Base Camp and do some small construction work inside of the houses.

The Camp will take place at the Buhug River, which is 45 km from the capitol city Ulaanbaatar. The Childcare Centre of Mongolia (CCM) is the only fully government-funded orphanage in Mongolia. The orphanage was established in 1974. It started as a nursery cum pre-school and later in 1979, expanded to providing facilities for older children. The pre-school kids range between 3-6 years old and the older kids, between 6-18 years. Pre-school and School kids are ling in 2 separate places in Ulaanbaatar. The school age kids place we call ‘Orphanage’ and it is a 3-storey building and house. The ‘Pre-school’ kids place is called kindergarden and they live in a single storey building. There are currently a total of 300 children comprising approximately 150 younger kids and 150 older kids. 35 teachers and 50 staff run the Centre. The children live in a very deprived environment. Facilities and living space are limited. The main concern is food and education facilities, as they rely heavily on funding from the government. Some small plots of land are available for the Centre to cultivate vegetables to feed the kids in the place which is called Buhug river. The elder 30 kids of Orphanage who are between 12-16 years old work there during the 3 months of summer. They produce vegetables such as carrots, radish, onions, etc. just enough for their meals all year (they keep it 4 meter under the ground for one year that is a quite magic!) The vegetables are very purely organic and very tasty and kids are very nice! Since 2000, volunteers from all over the world have been participating in summer programs designed to improve the kids vegetable farm. Volunteers will help out in the vegetable farm.
WORK: We will work together with the orphans aged 12-15 to remove the weeds in the field. Quite tiring but let's enjoy it with them! Around 30 kids come here during the summer holiday of them which is between June to August. Main working tasks of volunteers are to help Orphanage’s vegetable farm - weeding wild plants, watering the farm and trees etc. Also someday volunteers will organize sports and cultural activity with children such as playing games, organizing a party etc.

Before 1990, Mongolia had many kids summer camps, but the numbers decreased a lot. In some cases due to the financial situation it became difficult to run summer camp. We start helping these summer camp from Childcare Center of Mongolia who has been cooperating a lot each other and need our works! So we will help to run summer camp by organizing various kind of activities with kids and help to take care kids etc. We will support also financially by the budget of MCE and the workcamps.
WORK: We will organize many kind of cultural and sport activity with kids. Also we will help everyday’s work of Kids camp and take care of kids. Also, some actions of Greening Asia (Asian action to protect forests)and Bracelet project (Asian action to decrease kids prostitution) may be organized.
ACCOMMODATION: will be in the Summer camp house. Meals are provided, a sleeping bag is necessary.
LOCATION: 40 km far from Ulaanbaatar. The name of the place is KHANDGAIT, a beautiful forest area.

Until 1990 kids/students were study only Russian as a second language. But since 1990 we changed our political and economical system. Since this time we have chance to study 3rd language. but English studying is still very poor and MCE is always focusing to improve it.
WORK: The main work will be to teach English, songs and games to the kids that can be advantage for them to find jobs and also to exchange with international volunteers, in the future.
