CONC 070     Allègre - OFAJ     04.08.-26.08.2010    RENO   12vols
Restoration of a medieval tower - Trinational workcamp France; Japan and Germany!
PROJECT: Allègre is a town with an important middle age heritage. Situated at an altitude of 900 meters, the vestiges of the castle, listed as a Historical Monument, dominate the village.
This second international workcamp with the municipality will allow volunteers to work directly on the vestiges of the castle. Furthermore, young people from Allègre will meet you during leisure time or activity times.
WORK: You will work on the restoration of the north tower of the castle which undergoes regular erosion. Today it serves as point of view. A viewpoint indicator is settled there. First you will remove the vegetation then you will use techniques of traditional masonry to secure the height of the tower by raising the most damaged parts (work on scaffold) and will reorganize a path to block the access.
LOCATION: Allègre (2000 inhabitants) is located in the Haute-Loire department in Auvergne region. It is 30 km north from Le-Puy-en-Velay. It is a village of the Pnr Livradois-Forez, with remarkable natural and built heritage.
ACCOMMODATION: At the municipal campsite. Two places tents (bring your sleeping mat) and collective tent for group life.
TERMINAL: Darsac train station. Airport : Paris or Clermont-Ferrand
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Nights can be really cold, so please bring warm clothes and a sleeping bag. Please bring gloves, work cloth and shoes.
