Our teaching
projects are in primary or secondary schools in small villages.
The knowledge of English is poor. Most Thai schools want
foreigners to teach English at their school. They don’t have the
money to hire a foreign teacher. DaLaa helps them by sending
international volunteers who can help the school for a period of
time. It’s our aim to continue these projects in cooperation
with the schools: give structural help. For Thai children
English language is really difficult: the alphabet and the
pronunciation are completely different compared with Thai
language. You will experience this yourself during your Thai
lessons!! This big difference is one of the reasons that Thai
children loose interest in learning English. Something most of
them regret when they get older. With our projects we want the
children to enjoy the classes, show them that it can also be fun
to learn English. For example by making lessons in combination
with creativity (games and songs).
In our Middle and
Long Term Projects we try to make a combination between English
Teaching and another subject.
Besides experiencing the school, the children, the teachers, it
is also nice to experience another part of daily life in
Thailand. In the villages many people earn their living with
agriculture. By working together in agriculture projects you
will also get to know some of the villagers.
This
year DaLaa starts the project "Teaching House" in
Bangklam, in the region of Songkhla (southern Thailand). Volunteers are expected to help in English
classes. Together with the teachers the schedule and way to work
will be arranged. The age of the students is between 6-12 years
old. Besides teaching, volunteers will look together for other
activities and possibilities in the area of Hat Yai.
Meeting point: Hat Yai. |
