Vive Mexico has been running this Long Term Program since the year 2003 with good results. The international exchange and cultural understanding is a important part of the formation for every human being, this project is born from this philosophy, one Long Term Volunteer is needed to work inside of one school in a Mexican community helping with activities with the local youngsters by participating in activities to promote the cultural exchange and learning of the youngsters.

Programmbeschreibung

The volunteer will be a part of the school staff, he/she will be giving English (and/or French) classes for the local youngsters, who are students of the school (the average age of the students is between 15 an 19 year old) and probably the local people of the town, also the volunteer will help to organize local groups of ecology or sports and organize some activities for the people of the town but most of them oriented to develop positive activities for the local youngsters. Vive Mexico also organizes projects for groups of international volunteers that stay in some communities for 20 days participating in activities for the develop of the town so, in the case the community welcomes a group of international volunteers the long term volunteer will help by participating in the organization of the activities the international group will do in the town. You will also be supported by the local teachers of the school. Location: The possible places of the volunteers are Acahuato, Cahulote, Churumuco. Epitacio Huerta, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Las Cruces, Manga de Cuimbo, Paracuaro, Penjamillo, Senguio, Tzintzingareo. There are many other communities but all of them are located in Michoacan State, once the volunteers are accepted the community will be designated to them depending on their skills and experience. Hosting and food: Hosting and food are provided for the period of the project, the volunteer will live with a family. Pocket Money: The volunteer will not receive pocket money only the food and the hosting so the volunteer should bring money to buy personal supplies and travel during the vacations and weekends and so on.

Voluntarios Internacionales Mexico A.C (Vimex) was founded in 1985. Located in Mexico City. VIMEX is an independent non-religious, non- governmental and non-profit making organization. It organizes International Workcamps in Mexico, it accepts incoming volunteers to its projects and at the same time it sends young Mexican students from our preparatory schools, universities and in many cases graduated students abroad.  VIMEX’S national program receives incoming volunteers and helps in the social needs of Mexican people by making voluntary action, so the foreign volunteers will know our culture, our customs and our daily realities. VIMEX also encourages the exchange of different ways of thinking and being and it practices tolerance in living together with people from other countries.

Programmbeschreibung

The Project is developed in cooperation with the Municipality of Tamazulapam, Oaxaca and VIMEX. The teaching of the English language involves secondary and preparatory schools at basic levels. The teachers are Mexicans, the program that the teachers follow basically has improving the student’s grammar as its target. We need that the students get conscious about the benefits and advantages to learn a second language. The teachers need motivation in order to teach English through an attractive method, interactive and less tedious. The volunteers will plan and give classes and activities concerning the basic English course. Work time will be 4-7 hours daily from Monday to Friday. The volunteers will split in the different schools that exist at Tamazulapam. The schools asked to VIMEX for volunteers for teaching not only English but also the next matters in different schools levels, like Kindergarten, primary schools, secondary schools and preparatory schools as: English, Ecology, Sports and Physical Education, Painting and Drawing, and  Computing.

VIMEX and San Felipe de Jesús Fundation are going to join their efforts in order  to help street children and young people who are decided to change their lifestyle and to do the street part of the past. San Felipe de Jesús Foundation is an institution of private assistance , with 8 years of experience in atention of girls, boys and young people that live in the street and are on risk. They promote childhood organisation and participation among of educational models and projects. They offer services as capacitation and  consultant´s office in the work with this kind of population.
The main objective  is to support the social justice and dignity of children and young people in street situation and in risk to be, through  of individual, familial and community actions that influence  in the prevention and attention in the street process. There are three projects:

1. Communitary prevention,  2. Matlapa Observatorio Center.  3. Home “ La Gran Higuera”..

WORK: :  There are 5 kind of activities in different areas. After to know the different areas the volunteers will choose  in which area  they want to work.

a) Administrative support
b) Sistematization and gestion support 
c) Comunication support
d) Formation/training support (FORLID)
e) Communitary prevention support (PRECOM)
f)  Familial and psychologist support (AFP)
g)  Support in Services
h)  Support in the home “La Gran Higuera”.
