IWO B3   Horseman   JEONBUK   12.09 - 05.12.2012   YOUTH & EDU   2 volunteers (female please)
Korea Horseman High School takes pride in being known as the first choice among students who seek to begin their careers as horse trainers and managers. It is a public high school designed for in-depth instruction and exercises about managing and training racing horses. The students in this school build their horsemanship skills and eventually seek to be employed in horse managing fields. The school was originally founded as a livestock farming school. However, as the appreciation for farming and livestock has steadily decreased among young people, the school transformed its curriculum to focus on training young horseman. In the past few years, the school has earned recognition for its horse training curriculum but still lacks in its international programs and interactions. With the help of LOVE volunteers, Korea's Horseman High School can take a great leap towards adapting an international curriculum.
WORK: Since the school is located in an area where it has limitation in meeting various international people, the purpose of this program is to foster the idea of global citizenship within the students through informal English or Japanese conversation classes and additional learning activities focused on world issues and cultural difference awareness, tolerance, and acceptance. There are about 15-20 students in one class, and having skills such as dancing, singing, acting, and teaching languages (English or Japanese) will be very helpful. Additionally, volunteers will have the benefit of experiencing Korean culture, horsemanship, as well as other school activities or class field trips.

IWO-B7   UIRYEONG GYEONGNAM   12.09 - 05.12.2012   KIDS & EDU   3 volunteers (female only)

Uiryeong is a small town famous for its beautiful scenery and delicious traditional Korean rice cakes called "Bangae-deok". Since the government usually develops infrastructure depending on the population of the region, many people in this area are isolated from those benefits. The host organization is a local church which runs a Local Children Center. The center provides educational and cultural opportunities to local children and youth. The center has many children who are growing up in families with one parent, or grandparents. Most of them have fewer opportunities meeting foreigners, so with the help of international volunteers, the local children of Uiryeong can experience global awareness while volunteers can feel the warmth and kindness of this rural Korean community.
WORK: Teaming up with a LOVE Korean volunteer, international volunteers will organize and manage cultural and educational afterschool programs such as foreign language classes (mainly English) for different ages of children. The children who use the center are mainly elementary school students-with few middle school students-and normally stay at the center from 2PM and until around 9PM. Any activities and ideas are welcomed by the host organization as long as they provide the local children with opportunities of cultural exchange. The local children are very open to new programs and are very interested in learning about different countries.
Extra activities: There is a sports complex nearby. And you can also visit many traditional sites around this area such as mountains, temples, villages, palaces, etc.
Qualifications of Volunteers:
1) Essential qualification
