Der Europäische Freiwilligendienst (=EFD) bietet jungen Leuten (18 -30 Jahre) die Möglichkeit, für 6-12 Monate ein EU-Land intensiv zu entdecken, an einem Projekt mitzuwirken und neue Erfahrungen, Kompetenzen, Eindrücke und Sprachkenntnisse zu gewinnen.

Für dich als Freiwillige/n ist der Einsatz kostenlos: Reisekosten, Taschengeld, Unterkunft und Verpflegung, Versicherung und Sprachkurs sind inklusive. Das Kindergeld wird weiterhin gezahlt, da es sich um einen sog. "geregelten" Freiwilligendienst handelt.

GRIECHENLAND:

SOCIAL COOPERATIVE ACTIVITIES FOR VULNERABLE GROUPS - EDRA Project Start: 1st of May ( 8 months)

"EDRA" is located in the municipality of Peristeri, in the western Athens / Attica. "EDRA" is among the very few organizations in the western Athens, in general, that provides special services in the field of mental health. Under "EDRA", there are two rehabilitation units (boarding houses) for 25 mental health service users, and a centre for various therapies and creative activities open to the community and also in Peristeri is located the first of the four PsychoEducational Centers for Children with learning disabilities.

Volunteer's tasks
the volunteers' tasks include: work in one our rehabilitation units for people with mental health problems..we have 2 boarding houses, and a day care centre.
the volunteers support the users in their daily life, keep company, go out, take part in artistic workshops, therapeutic group meetings...and much more.
EDRA also organizes every year some events in which the volunteers take part, such as: an art festival, bazaars, sport event for people with special needs, celebrations, etc.
we have also recently started working on a blog, for which the volunteers will be responsible..and free to express ideas, put photos etc....
and also promoting the idea of voluntarism and Youth in Action programme for the greek youths.

Allowance / food / transportation:
the volunteers, apart from the monthly allowance of 95 euros (fixed ammount for Greece), they get every month, in cash, money for food and trasportion, in total 290 euros.

Language courses / mentor
the volunteers have language courses 2-4 hours /week with a private tutor .
the volunteers have also regural meetings with the mentor , at least once a week.

Accommodation
the volunteer will share an apartment with 3 other volunteers (most of the time girls, but this time, during your staying , there will be 2 boys for half of your project)
the apartment is a very spacious and modern apaent, with 2 bedrooms, a spacious living room, kitchen, bathroom, 2 balconies, fully equiped with all electrical devices, TV, DVD player, internet connection , telephone (for incoming calls).
the apartment is located in the centre of Athens, in an area called GAzi, near the historical center. The area is very popular with young people, with a lot of cafes, bars, restaurants.

ARMENIEN

SOS Kindersdorf

The main aim of the project is to work with children, to educate and train them. The volunteer will be involved in all programs and will be encouraged to propose his/her own ideas and suggestions. The volunteer will live and work with the local community. The SOS Children's Village Kotajk consists of 12 family houses, a SOS kindergarten, a Village Director's house, accommodation for the aunts, a Community House, offices and staff quarters. In spring 1998, the children together with an artist painted some of the family houses.

Open World

The EVS project "Open world" will take place in Yerevan in Medical Psychological Pedagogical Center for children with different kinds of disabilities. The main aim of the Center is to open children's physical, mental and psychological peculiarities, to develop and open new talents in children who have mental and physical problems. The main aim of the EVS project is to work with children who have got different physical disabilities, to educate and train them and to make them feel equal members of society. The volunteer will be involved in all programs and will be encouraged to propose his/her own ideas and suggestions

Smile to Treat

The EVS project "Smile to treat" will take place in Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children in Yerevan. The main aim of the project is to work with children who have got different physical disabilities, to educate and train them and to make them feel equal members of society. The volunteer will be involved in all programs and will be encouraged to propose his/her own ideas and suggestions. The volunteer will live and work with the local community.

Hopeshine

The school N 14 for children with eyesight problems was established in 1939 in Yerevan.This school is the only one in Armenia where the education is organized with braille system. Most of the children stay in the school and return home only for the week-end. The school gives children secondary and specialized education. The main aim of the project is to work with children who have different kinds of problems concerning eyesight, blindness. There are different creativity workgroups in the school during which the volunteer will be asked to assist children - painting, handicrafts, singing, playing piano, dancing etc., and during which the children get used to different kinds of arts which they can use in future.

ZATIK
Zatik Orphanage

The main aim of the project is the work with children-orphans, to provide educational activities and to prepare them for an independent life.
Involving international volunteers will be a great opportunity for this project as the children will learn about the culture and traditions of foreign countries. The presence of an international volunteer will enrich the program offered to the orphans. The discussions with the children on different subjects will be more interesting in getting to know other beliefs and points of view. The volunteer will work mainly with children aged 5 to 15 years. He/she will assist in offering workshops and leisure time activities to the children, where they can draw, sculpture, learn different national and foreign songs, games, disco dancing, etc.



WALES

UNA Exchange ‘Active Youth in Cardiff 2013-14'

"UNA Exchange Office"
Volunteers will be able to get involved in a range of activities relating to different areas of UNA Exchange's work. The precise details of a placement will vary according to the time of year, but volunteers should expect to have a range of key tasks that involve working with staff and volunteers. Core tasks could include; planning and supporting trainings and events, meeting and interviewing volunteers to collect case studies, work in the ‘Peace Garden' and general office support. EVS volunteers will also have the chance to develop their own smaller projects during the placement, depending on their own skills and interests and current opportunities at UNA Exchange.

UNA Exchange ‘Active Youth in Cardiff 2013-14'

"Pedal Power and Cardiff Cycling"
The volunteer will be based at Pedal Power and spend approximately 50% of her/ his time with the Pedal Power team. The volunteer will then spend the rest of their time with other Cardiff-based organizations working in the area of cycling and sustainable transport. This will make the project varied and an exciting opportunity for the volunteers. Core tasks will include; supporting the Bike It project in Wales by cycling to schools across Cardiff to promote the uptake of active forms of transport to get to school, assisting in the Cardiff Cycle Workshop by learning about basic repair and refurbishment of bicycles and also supporting Cardiff Cycle Hire by ensuring bikes are safe and ready for hire.

"Community Music Wales"
The volunteer will be given the opportunity to undertake training as a community music practitioner. If they are not a musician, they would be given the opportunity to attend marketing training courses, social networking, etc. We will be flexible to the needs of the volunteer. The role of the EVS volunteer will be to provide the focal point of our marketing, e bulletin, social media, events and promotion. They will liaise with the project staff and tutors to create PR and publicity around the projects. They will also play a lead role in gathering data from workshops and assisting the music tutors where necessary and depending on their interest and experience. They will play a vital role in documenting the work and collaborating with the rest of the team and will have the opportunity to creatively input to project ideas. They will attend workshops within the communities, with our tutor and project staff and assist on workshop sessions as well as film/ photograph projects.
